Sand Art Competition

Creativity meets the Oregon coast on Saturday, August 15, as the Cascade Head Biosphere Collaborative invites artists, families, and beach lovers to participate in the annual Sand Art Competition &; Art on the Beach at Chinook Winds Casino Resort.

From 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., participants will transform the sand into works of art while

spectators enjoy watching a spectacular giant sand art graphic created by

professional sand artists and a team of expert volunteers.

The event is free to attend, making it an ideal summer outing for families and visitors to the Oregon Coast. The Sand Art Competition challenges teams of up to four people to create original, family-friendly sand art within a 20-foot by 20-foot drawing area.

This year's competition celebrates the remarkable natural world of the Cascade Head Biosphere Region, encouraging artwork inspired by its coast, estuaries, forests, wildlife,

watersheds, and marine environments.

No experience is necessary. Extra rakes will be available, and participants of all ages

and skill levels are encouraged to join.

"Our beaches have always inspired creativity" said organizers with the Cascade Head

Biosphere Collaborative. This event brings together art, nature, and community in a

way that invites everyone to experience the Oregon coast a little differently.

Whether you're drawing in the sand or simply enjoying the artwork, it's a celebration of the

extraordinary landscape we all share.

Beach access is located at the south end of the property. Competition Schedule

 9:00 a.m. – Drawing begins. Teams have up to 90 minutes to complete their

artwork.

 10:30 a.m. – Judging based on creativity, originality, and artistry.

 11:00 a.m. – Awards presentation.

Prizes

 First Place: Prize package valued at $500

 Second Place: $200 Cash

 Third Place: $100 Cash

Registration:

Participation is limited. Teams of up to four people are encouraged to register in

advance.

A suggested $20 donation per team helps support the Cascade Head Biosphere

Collaborative's work in environmental education, climate resilience, scientific research,

and community stewardship throughout Oregon's UNESCO Cascade Head Biosphere

Region.

Spectators are welcome to attend free of charge and watch both the community

competition and the creation of a monumental sand art installation that has become a
