State Police Busy During Spring Break

On 03/19/23, State Police Trooper Randall made a traffic stop on a Subaru Legacy near mile post 1 on highway 34. The driver, identified as 41-year old Joseph F. Florez attempted to walk away but was detained without incident. The passenger fled on foot. Florez was taken into custody for a probation violation. A search of the car yielded a small amount of Methamphetamine.

On 03/20/2023 at approximately 1:05pm State Police responded to a 911 reported a single vehicle rollover crash on highway 20 near milepost 33. Upon arrival a female diver was in the vehicle down a 30ft embankment in a river. Fire personnel got her out of the vehicle where she was transported to the Corvallis hospital by medics for further evaluation.

On 03/20/23, State Police Trooper Randall stopped the driver of a Ford Fusion for a traffic violation near milepost 115 on Highway 101. Upon contact with the driver, 56-year old Michael West and observed signs of impairment. West consented to Safety Field Sobriety Test and showed impairment while participating in the tests. West was taken into custody and transported to the Lincoln City Police Department where West provided a breath and urine sample. West was cited and released for DUII.

On 3/21/2023 State Police Trooper Gray responded to an injury crash on Highway 20. Investigation showed a black Honda Accord failed to obey a traffic control device crashing into a silver Toyota Tacoma causing it to overturn. The Driver of the Honda Accord, identified as 76-year old Sharon A. Reynolds was transported to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital with suspected minor injuries. She was cited forFail to Obey Traffic Control

On 03/29/2023 at approximately 3pm a driving complaint was called in about a Ford Ranger

that was tailgating and speeding near Depoe Bay. The truck was found and stopped by State Police Trooper Goodey. Upon contacting the driver, identified as Roger J. Hahn of Nrwport was found suspected of DUII Controlled Substances and and was arrested for DUII and reckless driving.

On 02/11/2023 the driver of a Chevy Tahoe eluded police after a traffic stop was attempted in Lincoln City. On 03/30/2023 the same Chevy Tahoe was recognized and a traffic stop was initiated on it. The driver, identified as 32-year old Collin P. Reese pulled over and reportedly admitted to eluding police back in February. Reese was arrested and transported to the Lincoln County Jail where he was lodged.

On 3/30/2023 State Police Trooper Nathman responded to a three car crash on Highway 18. Investigation showed two drivers headed eastbound on Hwy 18 and one vehicle was towing a travel trailer. One driver was entering the Hwy attemtping to proceed westbound on the highway when it was struck near the rear. The car then spun away from the impact of the crash. The driver who was towing the trailer tried to stop and avoid a collision by steering right into a gravel parking lot off the highway. However one of the cars sideswiped the left side of the travel trailer, damaging an axle and the side of the trailer. Two drivers reported and one was transported to Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital by her husband for evaluation and possible treatment.
